BHTAsteptember Launched with members walking 9 miles
With the start of September 2018, it’s time to get stepping out to support the Stroke Association as this years nominated charity. BHTA members and staff joined together for the official launch of the event at Grafham Water near Huntingdon. The team was joined by Amy Hadlow from Higher Elevations and Phil Rice from Anglia Stairlifts, Charlie Lawrence BHTA, and representatives from the Stroke Association waving the team off. The walk took everyone around the lake and surrounding countryside with 9 miles being completed equivalent to each member of the team having walked almost 25,000 steps each.
Sally Edgington event organiser said “It was great to be joined and supported by members and the Stroke Association. Being warm it was quite a tough 9 miles, but we were all really proud to have completed the steps to get the challenge off to a cracking start”.
Through the month of Steptember there will be over 215 participants from across BHTA membership walking 10,000 steps every day of the month. This means that the combined steps will be over 64 million which is over 32,000 miles, the same as walking from London to Sydney, back and there again!
We hope is to raise £10,000 for the Stroke Association. We all know someone that has been affected by a Stroke and many of our members provide help, advice and equipment to stroke survivors.
