Their best marketing campaign by far, has been our “PANTS TO HERNIAS” campaign, the aim being to increase awareness about the risks of a hernia in the stoma population plus the benefits of support wear in
They supply a wide range of ostomy support wear to help alleviate some of the common problems faced when living with a stoma, such as supporting the bag as it fills, and covering and hiding the contours of the bag to offer discretion to the wearer. However over the years we came to learn about the extent of the problem of parastomal hernias in this ostomy population. This lead us to design a study to test if our support wear could impact the risk of developing a hernia. This study was carried out independently by a specialist stoma nurse at the Queens Hospital over a 12month period. The results were an astounding reduction in hernias from 23% to just 1% when the patient was educated & support wear was worn. This study was published in the BJN.
These results were enough to move them into action, and create the “Pants To Hernias” campaign. The aim being to increase awareness amongst users and nurses whilst removing barriers to experiencing the benefits.
